2018 Financial Literacy Champion Announced

Beloit, WI – Sherri Hendrickson, Business Information and Technology Instructor at Monroe High School in Monroe, Wisconsin is the winner of the 2018 Financial Literacy Champion Award presented by First National Bank and Trust (FNBT).

Hendrickson was nominated by FNBT’s Executive Vice President of Wealth Management, Mark Leach, for running a successful and popular high school investment club that teaches students how to understand and invest in the stock market. She was selected as a finalist and voting was open to the community on the bank’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/FirstNationalBankandTrust.   

As the award winner, Hendrickson received $100 individually and Monroe High School received a $1,000 grant from FNBT to continue financial education efforts at the school. The prizes were awarded at Monroe High School on Friday, May 18 by her nominator, Mark Leach, along with Steve Schneider, Senior Vice President Commercial Banking Manager, and Christina Symons, manager of the bank’s Monroe Branch.

“Financial education is so important,” said Symons. “The lessons students learn at school stick with them later in life. It is just good Sound Advice to discuss money management with high school students before they head off to college and into the working world.” This is the sixth year that the bank has awarded the Financial Literacy Champion Award.
