Release date: 10/24/2018
Beloit, WI - First National Bank and Trust (FNBT) recently collected 35,176 pounds of unwanted electronics through three free electronic recycling events held at FNBT branches in Beloit and Clinton, Wisconsin and Rockton, Illinois.
Goodwill was on hand at each event to collect and help community members securely dispose of unwanted electronic equipment and devices such as computers, stereos, cell phones, printers, appliances, VCRs, and DVD players.
“Our partnership with Goodwill has been very beneficial for the community, and the events are gaining in popularity,” said Theresa Wendhausen, vice president, branding and communications manager for FNBT. “We are pleased with the amount of donations we received this year and look forward to continuing our partnership in 2019.”
“We are so happy to have First National Bank and Trust as a partner and supporter of Goodwill,” stated Ben Bernsten, president of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. “By hosting their annual free electronics donation drive, not only is First National Bank and Trust helping community members get rid of their unwanted electronics and keep them out of area landfills, they are helping to provide individuals with the opportunity to experience the power and dignity of work through Goodwill’s employment programs.”
FNBT recently presented a check totaling $1,373.55 to Goodwill to help with the administration costs of running the donation drive. Goodwill plans to recycle every electronic item that was collected. Proceeds from the drives go to support Goodwill programs to help people gain employment in communities throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
