FNBT Announces Cash Management Promotions

Beloit, WI First National Bank and Trust (FNBT) is pleased to announce the following changes within the Cash Management department.

Photo of Julie ThorntonJulie Thornton has accepted the newly created position of Vice President, Deposit Systems Manager within the bank’s Deposit Operations team. Julie’s strong knowledge and expertise in the bank's various deposit systems, her technical work with business customers in the day to day operations of their accounts, as well as her keen focus on the overall customer experience makes her uniquely positioned for this role. Her responsibilities will include understanding the capabilities of the bank's deposit systems to help streamline processes and audit functions, assisting and communicating with the Project Management Office as needed for ongoing projects, and providing technical system support on deposit functions to team members across the bank.

Julie has more than 30 years of industry experience and joined FNBT in 2011 as a Treasury Management Specialist. She attended Rockford Business College and Southern New Hampshire College, studying business, finance and accounting. She also earned the Fundamentals of Cash Management Diploma from the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) in 2006, and has attended several industry seminars and conferences hosted by the Wisconsin Automatic Clearing House Association (WACHA). She is a 2007 graduate of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce's Leadership program. Currently, Julie spends time volunteering for Beloit Meals on Wheels and participates in the annual United Way Day of Caring event.

Photo of Jessica HernandezJessica Hernandez has been promoted to Vice President, Cash Management Manager. She has nearly 20 years of banking experience, and joined FNBT in 2015 as the Branch Manager at the Beloit-Madison Rd office. Since then, she managed the Beloit-Grand Ave and the Beloit-Inman Parkway branches including the Rock County floating banker team. In June 2020, she transitioned to the Commercial Team as a Vice President, Cash Management Specialist. Now, as manager of the Cash Management team, she is responsible for analyzing commercial deposit relationships, as well as sales and servicing of cash management services. She also enjoys helping customers find financial tools for improving daily operations and long-term company goals.

Jessica graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and has earned several performance certificates, as well as Human Sigma 6 certification. She volunteers for Beloit Meals on Wheels and recently joined the Stateline Family YMCA board after serving on the Downtown Beloit Association board for six years, most recently as treasurer and secretary. Jessica resides in Poplar Grove, Illinois with her husband Pedro (Pete) and two daughters, Alexia and Olivia.

Photo of Susan StarrSusan Starr has been promoted to Cash Management Officer. Starr joined FNBT earlier this year as a Commercial Sales Administrator after relocating to our community from Colorado where she held various positions during her 35+ years of banking experience. Born and raised in Central Illinois, and a graduate of Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, Susan has experience as Vice President Treasury Management Officer, branch management, business development, as well as consumer and small business lending. 

As a Cash Management Officer at FNBT, Susan is responsible for educating our customer family on cash management solutions that provide efficiencies and benefit their unique needs, and providing Sound Advice as she works with businesses and individuals throughout our community. In her free time, Susan can be found working in her flower garden, mushroom hunting, hiking or exploring national parks. She resides in Roscoe, Illinois with her husband Kim, a retired banker. Together they have two adult children, two cats (Leo and Boo) and one dog, Astor.

Photo of Mallory NygrenMallory Nygren has joined the Cash Management team as Cash Management Specialist. She started at FNBT in 2019 as a teller and soon transitioned into the customer support team. She quickly took on responsibility as representative for the Business Connection group and later supervisor for the customer support department. Since that time, she has worked in many areas of the bank most recently as the bank’s training and development specialist. Now, as a cash management specialist, Mallory is responsible for analyzing commercial deposit relationships, sales and servicing of cash management relationships, and working with FNBT’s commercial clients. Her experience with the Business Connection team, combined with her previous work as a teller, uniquely positions her to provide Sound Advice for all her clients’ banking needs.

In 2023, Mallory will be attending the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater pursuing a degree in business. She has completed many industry certifications including the Teller and Branch Manager Certificates offered through the American Bankers Association (ABA), and FNBT’s Leadership Learning series. In her free time, Mallory volunteers for Beloit Meals on Wheels and events hosted by the Downtown Beloit Association. She currently resides in Roscoe, Illinois with her boyfriend, two dogs and two cats.
