YWCA Northwestern Illinois Partnership Announced

Release date: 10/30/2017

Beloit, Wisconsin – First National Bank and Trust (FNBT) and the YWCA Northwestern Illinois recently announced a partnership to provide financial education opportunities focused on promoting economic self-sufficiency for women throughout the community.

“Women comprise more than half of today’s workforce,” said Kris Kieper Machajewski, CEO of YWCA Northwestern Illinois. “One in four women are now the sole or primary breadwinners for their families which is why a strong financial foundation is so important for women.”

“By providing Sound Advice and educating consumers about money management, we hope to foster future relationships, empower women, and help provide services that meet the needs of women in our community,” said Laura Pomerene, senior vice president and marketing director at FNBT.

The three-year partnership will include financial literacy sessions for child care providers conducted by the bank. FNBT will also collaborate with community agencies to present workshops focused on home buying and lending hosted at the YWCA each year, the first of which is scheduled for Thursday, November 9 from 11:30 am to 2 pm at the YWCA office located at 4990 E State Street in Rockford.
